Goggia wins St. Moritz just one day after surgery, Ilka Štuhec returns to the podium

( 19. 12. 2022 )
Saturday and Sunday's skiing action in St. Moritz, Switzerland, impressed even the most demanding winter sports enthusiasts.

Despite a surgery just a day before the race, Italy's Soffia Goggia secured the gold medal in downhill by 43 hundredths of a second, while Maribor's Ilka Štuhec took silver to the great delight of Slovenian fans. After more than three years of tough battles and disappointments, Ilka showed that she still has a lot of will and strength left in her to leap onto the podium and make the action at the 59th Golden Fox even more heartfelt and wild.

The ever-smiling American Mikaela Shiffrin, who is slowly but steadily closing in on her compatriot and former teammate Lindsey Vonn's record of 82 World Championships wins, also celebrated her 77th victory in Sunday's super-G with a mere 12 hundredths of a second. Shiffrin's third win of the season was narrowly edged out by Italy's Elena Curtoni, who finished in second place ahead of France's Romane Miradoli.

The 59th Golden Fox is now just one race away from Semmering (27-29 December) and Sljeme in Zagreb (4-5 January 2023). Have you already secured your ticket
