So much snow at so low altitude!

( 19. 01. 2016 )
Ideal conditions remain for 52. Golden Fox racecourse preparation

”Coaches will be surprised, competitors will be thrilled” is convinced Chief of Race Mitja Dragšič. ”Everyone is facing problems with snow, while we have so much snow at a low altitude -350 m.a.s.l. to be exact. I am sure we will be able to harden the surface and prepare two excellent World Cup races.” After so many years of struggling with weather, the Golden Fox can finally have some luck regarding racecourse preparation. It has been a while since Pohorje slopes had so much quality snow. Snowmaking team was able to relocate some snow cannons from lower slope part to the top and provided extra amounts of snow for connection routes. This will enable tourists to ski at upper chairlift Poštela during  Golden Fox event. Habakuk slope will be used as a warm up slope for GS and slalom for competitors only. Snow control (FIS controller is Filip Gartner) is scheduled on Thursday before noon. Afterwards Mitja Dragšič's team will bring a decision when final surface hardening will be done by using water injection. Due to ideal conditions and plenty of time water injection will most likely be done twice. This way slope to the valley will not be decisive only for the Golden Fox event, but will also enable skiing in March.”Now there is no more doubt,” was pleased David Kastelic, Chairman of the Organizing's Committee while watching yesterday's racecourse preparation.
