Slovenian skiing day: Drev second

( 30. 01. 2016 )
At the 52nd Golden Fox Trophy the German Viktoria Rebensburg wins, 9.000 spectators celebrating the Slovenian success

A fantastic day that will remain of historic importance for Slovenian skiing. Ana Drev only accomplished what before her on January 30, 2016 started at first the Slovenian ski jumpers in Japan, then in Garmisch Partenkirchen continued a downhill racer from Maribor, Boštjan Kline with help of Andrej Šporn, and finally in front of about 9.000 spectators on the sunny, but as firm as concrete race course finished our Slovenian racer, Ana Drev. Being sixth after the first run in the World Cup GS race, Drev then attacked in the second one and only the German managed to keep some advantage in the end. Ana Drev performed so well on the second race in a row already and Maribor soon got a new skiing hero after Tina Maze’s (temporary) leave. However, this race was the organizers’ victory as well. In the second run the sunshine was even higher and more powerful, it was short-sleeves-weather, though on the course there were ‘’ice-breakers’’. All the racers admitted that the course was more than just well prepared for such spring weather temperatures. Drev's success was even sweeter due to another Slovenian skier, Katarina Lavtar's 17th place.
