Goals: Skiing all the way to valley on Sunday

( 22. 12. 2016 )
Until Saturday enough of snow spread out on racecourse to enable skiing

Organizers are relieved! More than a week prior snow control, we can say snow cannons will be able to do their work well. Chief of race, Mitja Dragšič: » There will be a sufficient amount of snow on racecourse until Saturday, so Marprom team can spread it out. The goal is to enable skiing on full racecourse length this Sunday. Snow needs to be mixed and best way to achieve this is by skiing. Then we can start with further racecourse preparations. «Previous days or better to say nights were favorable for snowmaking with more success in upper parts of racecourse, and less elsewhere. In lower parts of racecourse, even new cannons needed to be replaced with older ones. Milan Šmon's snowmaking team obviously succeeded regardless of inversion, humidity, wrong weather forecasts and technical difficulties. Technical staff of TV Slovenia is already present at event venue and foothills of Pohorje are becoming busier every day as technical teams started setting up constructions. Phones started ringing as soon as it was clear the amount of snow is sufficient. Teams remain very interested for trainings in Maribor and Atle Skaardal, Chief Race Director of World Cup for Ladies did consider some options about organizing a race cancelled in Courchevel. Srečko Vilar, OC Secretary General: » We will do everything in our power. Of course we will try to provide trainings for Slovenians and besides them, Tina Maze would also like to train. It all depends on weather conditions or conditions on the racecourse. If Semmering will not organize the cancelled giant slalom race, we might consider this possibility. This is mostly related to finances. We will discuss this matter with FIS.«
